PSA = Public Service Announcement

Hi everyone! Just a heads up, I dug up some posts from my old blog, mostly with recipes I’ve tried or made up. So, you’ll see a lot of those posts featured in the coming weeks. These were mostly written as a culinary diary, which i’m now sharing with you! -Tony

Trader Joe's soup and canned chunk chicken

Trader Joe's soup and canned chunk chicken

If you like soup, and want to keep things healthy and light on calories, this is a good option on a weeknight when you don’t have a lot of time.  This recipe uses products from Trader Joe’s that are inexpensive and convenient.  Probably best served in the fall, winter, spring months, but we love soup so we make it in the summer as well.   Make sure you have the fan handy or the A/C on. ;-)

Serves: 2, ~400 calories per serving

Total Time: < 15 minutes

Ingredients:

  • Trader Joe’s pureed soup in the tetra boxes (~$2.79)
  • Trader Joe’s chunk chicken in a can (~$2.50)
  • Your choice of veggies (spinach, carrots, celery, etc.) or potatoes
  • salt, pepper, cayenne (optional)

Instructions:

  • Open canned chicken and put in saucepan
  • Open soup box and pour all of it in
  • Add veggies.  For carrots, celery, potatoes, it’ll take a little longer to cook.  For spinach, you can add that in at the end.
  • Add salt, pepper, and cayenne or crushed red pepper flakes to taste or for that extra kick.

Welcome!

Hi there,

Thanks for visiting!  This site is about great food and cooking efficiently and effectively.

My wife and I are busy professionals and though we live in a tiny apartment with a tiny kitchen, we still love to cook.   So,  we focus on finding/making quick, healthy recipes, improving our techniques, and buying useful tools that are ideally effective without creating a lot of clutter – essentially, we’re all about “power cooking.”

We’re not sure what this site will become, so share with us and enjoy!
